A pile of rubble at an Abingdon primary school has been transformed. For years a corner at the bottom of the playground at Carswell school in Bostock Road housed temporary classrooms, which were then pulled down.
But, thanks to a grant of £4,000 from the bank NatWest, the land has been converted and now hosts a pond, garden, amphitheatre-style seating area and vegetable plot.
Gardenorama was declared open by Central South Television presenter Wesley Smith, pictured with headteacher Sue Gore and pupils.
Mr Smith, who visited the school two years ago, said: "When I was here last, this area was like a building site; but now look at it."
