AN excellent knock of 83 off 91 balls from Andy Buckingham was not enough to give Kidlington victory in a tense finish against Burnham in Division 2 West at Stratfield Brake on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Burnham elected to bat in ideal conditions and were soon among the runs.
They put on 57 for the first wicket, but the innings was anchored by No 3 Amir Abbas, who made 101 from 127 balls before being last man out.
Burnham must have been confident in their bowlers as their declaration at 260-7 was generous, given that Kidlington had 55 overs to get the runs.
Shahbaz Ali got their reply off to a steady start with 38 from 73 balls before being given out leg before, and when Buckingham came to the crease, the home side still needed 196 from a possible 34 overs.
The chase looked on as he neared a century before being run out with 47 still needed from five overs.
Three wickets then fell for ten runs and it was left to captain Mark Strong to play out the remaining 12 balls for a draw, with Kidlington on 225-8.
