BANBURY were left hanging on for a draw in their Division 1 match against Finchampstead on Saturday.
Things started so well for the visitors when they reduced their opponents to 0-1 inside the first over, but a 194-run second-wicket partnership between Lee Nurse and Stuart Seymour took the game away from them.
Calum Taylor produced a breathtaking piece of fielding to dismiss James Kingston for nought, the Finchampstead opener not even facing a ball.
But Banbury could do nothing to stop Nurse and Seymour.
Despite mixing up the bowlers, the duo steadily increased the scoring rate and passed their hundreds.
Nurse hit two sixes and 14 fours in his 117, while Seymour hit five sixes and nine fours in 115.
They laid the platform for a big total of 305-5 in 65 overs.
In reply, Banbury struggled against West Indian A bowler Gavin Tonge.
He dismissed both openers Ben Hector and Ed Phillips cheaply, and it was left to Craig Haupt to try and hold the innings together.
With him at the crease Banbury had a chance, but when he fell to the final ball before tea, Banbury were left with no option but to bat out for a draw.
