The saddle tank engine which will be hauling steam trains to mark Cholsey and Wallingford Railway Preservation Society's 25th anniversary very nearly did not make it.
Two weeks ago the engine, which normally operates on the Severn Valley Railway, was on a low loader which crashed.
The engine was damaged but was soon back in working order.
And on Friday morning it took to the tracks at Wallingford station, all ready for steaming up.
Stationmaster Denis Strange said: "We are lucky to have the engine but all's well that end's well.
"Now it will be a star attraction at our 25th anniversary weekends."
