The Oxford Mail's £25m new printing press has been named as the best at a prestigious industry awards ceremony.
Newsquest Oxfordshire, publisher of the Mail and The Oxford Times, was joint winner of the coveted Newspaper Printer of the Year at the Newspaper Awards, held at the London Hilton in Park Lane last night.
The press hall, which opened in August 2004, also prints The Daily Telegraph and its work was described by judges as "simply the best with good clean copy throughout".
Press manager Geoff Harvey said: "For a small team such as Oxford to compete against the nationals and win is a fantastic achievement."
Oxfordshire Limited Edition was named regional colour supplement of the year for the second year in a row and The Oxford Times was commended in the regional weekly newspaper of the year category.
