Jenson Button will have an improved Honda engine at his disposal for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix as he looks to end his run of bad luck.

An engine failure at the Nurburgring last weekend followed a pit lane mix-up at Imola two weeks earlier to darken the mood at the Brackley team.

However, Button will get an upgraded power plant in Barcelona this weekend, when he hopes to get his season back on track.

He said: "It was a tough weekend at the Nurburgring so I'm looking ahead and focusing on Spain now. It's a circuit where you need to be strong aerodynamically and I think our car is good in that respect.

"We get a lot of practice at Barcelona as we test there so often, so we know the track inside out.

"The weather is likely to be nice and hot which always suits us better and if we can resolve the engine problem from last weekend, I think we should be able to get a good result. I'm looking forward to the weekend."

Honda's sporting director Gil de Ferran is also upbeat ahead of the sixth race this season.

He added: "We have the latest specification engine for both drivers. All of which makes us positive going into this weekend, despite our relative lack of pace in the last race."

Honda engine chief Shuhei Nakamoto is promising Button more power as he hopes to reign in Enstone Renault F1 team's world championship leader Fernando Alonso.

He said: "Both drivers have a fresh engine this week, with the newest, more powerful specification.

"We will have a countermeasure in place for the problem on Jenson's engine at the Nurburgring, and will be aiming to get closer to the front-runners."

Another driver to have a troubled weekend in Germany was Alonso's team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella, who complained of being held up in qualifying before fighting back to take sixth place.

He is hoping for a more successful weekend in front of team-mate Alonso's home fans.

The Italian said: "Barcelona is a circuit we all know very well because we do so much testing there, especially in the winter.

"I enjoy the circuit a lot and I know the Renault will be quick there. I am very optimistic for the race weekend, and I hope it will be a bit easier than the last one."
