Sir, May I ask Tony Baldry, MP for Banbury, through your pages, why he is supporting a campaign to keep post offices open, while still a supporter of the European Union?

These two things are incompatible given that European rules mean that postal services throughout the EU must be opened to private companies. So one of the reasons why so many post offices may be closed is because the profitable bits of the business have been taken by private companies. Is Mr Baldry in favour of these EU rules? If not, can he say how there is the remotest possibility of changing them, given that we would need the agreement of 24 other countries to do so?
