The first results in the 2006 local elections for Oxford City Council have started to come in.
An early high-profile casualty was the Lib Dem chairman of the council's licensing committee Tony Brett who lost his Cowley Marsh seat unexpectedly to Labour's Mohammed Abbasi.
In the Holywell ward, the Lib Dem's Richard Huzzey held the seat for his party and his colleague James Campbell held the St Margaret's ward seat.
Green Party leader Craig Simmons kept his St Mary's ward seat with a 516 majority over the Lib Dem's Michael Tait.
And there was bad news for the Independent Working Class Association which had hoped to snatch the Churchill ward from Labour - its candidate David Kent polled 297 votes against Joseph McManners who polled 597 votes to hold the seat for Labour.
