Proton's sales figures for the first quarter of 2006 have increased by more than 88 per cent, thanks in part to the launch of Proton's five-door city car, the Savvy.
This increase makes Proton the top-performing manufacturer in terms of growth, in a market which is down just over four per cent.
Simon Park, Proton's sales and marketing chief, said: "We are exceptionally pleased with sales, given the comparative size of our network compared to our competitors.
"The next two quarters will see a continued focus on dealer recruitment, as we look to strengthen and expand our network." Proton has a five-week television campaign, supported by national press and billboard advertising campaigns.
