Sir, I was concerned to read of the proposals by Oxford City Council to fine citizens who misplace the collection of their refuse at any time.
Surely, it is the remit of a local authority to serve the population rather than adopt this approach, which together with other imminent legislation presages a dictatorial future.
It will be interesting to test the validity and soundness of such by-laws in the context of the EU law and human rights, as the proposals are likely to prove flawed, unfair and unworkable/vindictive.
I wonder if any prospective candidates will champion the cause of households in the local elections and extinguish these contentious proposals when elected?
