An Easter reveller was knocked unconscious and suffered a suspected broken pelvis after he walked in front of a taxi.
Witnesses saw the man, who has not been named, step in front of a taxi as it pulled away from a rank in St Giles in Oxford early on Sunday.
He was flung several feet into the road, at about 1.30am. Paramedics took the man to the John Radcliffe Hospital with injuries to his pelvis.
Owen Morton, of Kidlington, was using the taxi rank, which is in the middle of St Giles and saw the accident.
He said: "It was awful. The guy had been knocked several feet by the impact and he wasn't moving.
"It was an accident waiting to happen. It can get very busy at that taxi rank with people jostling for taxis and trying to flag them down.
"People have to walk into the road just to get to where the taxis stop, and obviously, most of them will have had a few drinks."
Police closed the road for a short period, but no-one was arrested.
