Musicians are being asked to send demos for a new radio station's first broadcast.
Just Oxfordshire, a radio station being set up for the Witney and Carterton area, is appealing for bands of any musical style to get involved with their debut, on Sunday, July 2.
The new community station is to be launched at the Witney carnival. It has a licence for periodic broadcasts but hopes to gain a permanent licence and broadcast full time by the autumn.
The station is running a competition to find the best band, musicians or artists in the area, and is asking for demos to be submitted in time for the first broadcast.
Demos will be played via the Internet and listeners will vote on which their prefer. The winners will be given a two-hour show and an opportunity to play their own music and choose their favourite music that inspired them.
Just Oxfordshire spokesman Andy MacLarty said: "Local musicians and artists spend a phenomenal amount of time practising and honing their craft.
"It's all hard graft to get noticed as a band and we feel that it's about time they had a real chance to demonstrate the fruits of their efforts to others."
"It is our intention that local talent should be featured on Just Oxfordshire as a regular part of the evening programmes."
To enter, email the station on competition@justoxfordshire.co.uk for an application form and details of how to submit a demo, or visit the radio station's website at www.justoxfordshire.co.uk
