A man suffered serious injuries after a fire broke out at the mobile home he was staying in near Chinnor.

He was taken by ambulance to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.

The man was rescued by firefighters from the blazing mobile home at Town Farm, in Kingston Blount. Firefighters from Watlington, Thame and Wheatley were called to the farm, in Stert Road,ok shortly after 1am on Saturday.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the mobile home was destroyed by the blaze. Crews at the scene had to move three propane gas cylinders and make sure they were safe.

An investigation is under way to try to find out what caused the fire.

An Oxfordshire Ambulance Service spokesman said that the man's injuries were serious, but could not give any further information.

Two weeks ago, a man died in a caravan fire at Sunley Wood, near Chinnor. A second man escaped from the flames by jumping from a window.

Police who investigated the incident said that it was not suspicious. The Oxfordshire coroner will hold an inquest at a later date.
