The OX5 Run added up to a great result for a team of Oxford tax accountants who managed to calculate their assault on the five-mile course to perfection.
The Tax Tornados team, made up of staff at accountants Grant Thornton, beat all comers in the course through the picturesque grounds of Blenheim Palace on Sunday.
Team captain Matthew Duckett popped into the Oxford Mail offices in Osney Mead to pick up the inaugural OX5 Team Challenge cup.
The team's fastest five runners managed to complete the course in 176 minutes and 44 seconds, beating the second-placed Oxford Mail team by five minutes and third-placed Mid Counties Co-operative by just over six minutes.
In total, Grant Thornton entered eight teams for the event, all from different departments within the company.
Mr Duckett said the OX5 had been a wonderful experience and the cup had already been put on show in the reception area of the Grant Thornton office in Oxford.
The tax accountant said: "It is a very impressive cup and it was a great event on Sunday.
"There was a bit of banter before the event about who was going to win the event before the big day, so I'm glad we came out on top.
"It is a great event for bringing people in the company together and it helped to build up camaraderie in the office."
The team managed an average time of 35 minutes and the company as a whole raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
The trophy was presented by Newsquest Oxfordshire managing director Shamus Donald, who said: "The Tax Tornados have done something special for three reasons. Firstly they have won the inaugural team trophy. Secondly, they have supported a wonderful cause and, thirdly, they achieved the impossible by relegating the Oxford Mail to second place."
Sponsorship money is still being totted up, but it is estimated that the event raised more than £50,000 for the new Oxford Children's Hospital campaign.
The next big run for the diary is the Oxford Mail Town and Gown which takes place in University Parks on May 21.
The 10km event, which is staged to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year
