An all-round sportsman and former publican in Abingdon, Kenneth Kilbee, has died at his home after a short illness, aged 77.
Mr Kilbee, of Baker Road, played football, captaining Abingdon Town for several seasons and also played for MG Sports.
He was also a junior table tennis champion and excelled at cricket, as well as hockey, water ski-ing, snooker and darts. He was a keen angler and pigeon fancier and later took up golf. His wife Janet said: "Ken was a wonderful all-round sportsman. Any sport he took up seemed to click, particularly ball games for which he had an eye. There are golf clubs all over the house and there was a set in the corner of his bedroom where he died."
Mr Kilbee worked at the MG car factory, before leaving in 1965 to run the Red Lion pub in the Vineyard, taking over from Mrs Kilbee's father. He stayed for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His funeral will be at Oxford Crematorium on Tuesday at 12.45pm and afterwards at Drayton Golf Club.
