There will be aching bones and muscles in many households this morning, but the effort put in by everyone who took part in yesterday's OX5 run was worth it.
The record figure raised £50,000 by 1,300 runners in just a few hours was beyond everyone's expectations.
This magnificent achievement will be a major boost to the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign.
Some runners took part simply for fun, while the more competitive element used it as a warm-up for half-marathons and marathons this summer.
Whatever their motivation, they deserve the highest praise for supporting this worthy cause.
What better setting to hold the race than Blenheim Palace at Woodstock.
And what better person to sound the horn to start the race than three-year-old Mya Harris, who suffers from spina bifida and is one of the many children who will benefit from the new hospital.
We never cease to be amazed at the public support the hospital campaign has attracted, and yesterday's event was an excellent example of how everyone has taken it to heart.
We hope all the competitors will be back next year to raise even more money for the hospital.
