Southern League - Hemel Hempstead 3, Thame Utd 0: Thame finished last night's Southern League game with nine men after striker Alex Stewart and player-manager Tony Joyce both saw red.

The turning point came when Stewart was sent off in the 37th minute for a reckless challenge on a Hemel Hempstead defender.

The young Thame side had done well until then, working very hard, but from that moment they knew they would be up against it.

Rory Jenkins's long-range strike on 55 minutes put Hemel ahead, and Anthony Thomas made it 2-0 with another blast from distance.

A mistake by Joyce let in Narada Bernard for the home side's third, and player-boss Joyce's frustration led to him needlessly handling two minutes later when the ball was going over his head. The ref had no option but to show him a second yellow card.

Thame had chances. Darren Moore went close in the first half, and Luke Fisher almost scored in the second.

Thame Utd: Searl, Lane, Joyce, Blaik, Hocking, Groves, Moore (Connelly 80), Kitson (Caldwell-Smith 80), Stewart, Fisher, Boland. Subs not used: Bradley, Freeman.
