The family of a 14-year-old girl killed in a road accident have spoken of the joy she brought to all who knew her.
Chloe Owens, of Marriotts Lane, Haddenham, near Thame, was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the Thame bypass, near the junction with Aylesbury Road, on Friday evening.
In a statement released yesterday, her parents, Suzanne and Stephen, said: "Chloe was a girl who brought an enormous amount of joy to all who knew her.
"She was a wonderful daughter to us and a close sister to Natalie and Rachel.
"Her death will leave a very large hole in our extensive family. Chloe was a very friendly girl who had no sense of barriers when making friends. She was a kind and forgiving person who could see no wrong. Her sunny personality will be remembered by all who were fortunate to come into contact with her. Chloe will also be remembered for her dry sense of humour and how she would often mimic others.
"She adored children and wanted to work with them in the future. She attended Lord Williams's School in Thame, and it was in Thame that she loved to spend her leisure time with her close friends.
"We could not have wished for a better daughter and sister, she made all of us very proud. She had a beautiful smile that could light the world, and often did. We will miss her so much. We are honoured that we had time to be part of her life."
Chloe was staying with friends in Greenway at the time of the accident, and was returning to the house after buying food from a nearby Esso service station when the accident happened.
She was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital by police helicopter, where she later died.
Scores of tributes and flowers were left by the roadside. One message read: "RIP Chloe. We love you. We will never forget you."
An Esso employee, who did not want to be named, said: "A lot of people cross over the road there to come to the garage and Burger King. It is a nightmare."
She said she did not know of any past concerns about the road but expected calls for a crossing to be installed because of the accident.
A Burger King worker, who also asked not to be named, said he had seen people on in-line skates and skateboards crossing the roundabout from the nearby skate park.
Witnesses to the accident are urged to call Pc Alison Brown at the Aylesbury roads policing on 08458 50505.
