Other rescuers deserve thanks As the parents of one of the teenagers killed in the Oxford Eastern Bypass tragedy in May, we were pleased to see that Sub-Officer Steve Johns, of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, who attended the scene on his day off, picked up an award (Oxford Mail, September 16).

It is our opinion that every person who attended the scene that night, not only the emergency services but members of the public, off-duty GPs, doctors and nurses who helped in any way that they could, should also be recognised and thanked.

This was a horrific accident with fatal consequences that will live with some of these people forever, as it does us.

After four months, we are still receiving support and kindness from people we know and would also like to thank them and let them know they are truly appreciated.
