I would like to lend my support to Cherwood House Care Home at Bicester (Oxford Mail, September 29).
My aunt was a resident there for just over a year and throughout her time there, my family and I could not fault the care and attention she was given.
The staff couldn't do enough for her, were always happy to chat and took time to make sure that she wasn't spending too much time on her own. Auntie Doris often commented on how kind everyone was and how thankful she was that we had found Cherwood House for her.
Cherwood House Care Home is a remarkable place.
Auntie Doris was able to live again during the last few months of her life, enjoying many of the varied activities, something which would have been impossible for her to do if she had stayed at home on her own.
In January this year, she died at Cherwood House, not due to neglect or starvation but due to old age. She was 90.
My aunt didn't want to die in a hospital bed and so when it was clear that the end was near, the manager of Cherwood House, Lyn Anders, agreed that the staff would look after her until the end.
Auntie Doris died with dignity and in peace surrounded by the carers who had become her friends.
For that we, the family, will always be grateful.
