Burglars who broke into an Oxford school stole 20 laptop computers.

The thieves forced their way into a temporary classroom at Rye St Antony School, in Pullens Lane, Headington, on Tuesday night or early yesterday (September 27).

Staff contacted police yesterday morning.

Scenes of crime officers later visited the school to look for forensic evidence.

Ds Tony Lees, of the Oxford Burglary Team, said: "The thieves also took bits and pieces of computer equipment, but predominantly laptops.

"They forced their way in, took property and we think they may have left through Pullens Lane.

"They have used some tools to force their way into the buildings, and we think they must have had a getaway vehicle because of the amount of property that has gone."

Ds Lees appealed to anyone who was offered a laptop at an unusually low price to contact police.

He said: "If anyone witnessed anything suspicious in Pullens Lane, they should get in touch."

Anyone with information can contact Ds Lees on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

The school refused to comment.
