Can anyone explain why the roadworks that were due to start on September 19 on Oxford's Northern Bypass had not begun a week later?

I travel this stretch every day during the school term, and remember being warned about these works almost as soon as asphalting had finished on the same stretch in the summer.

Bracing myself a week ago for traffic hold-ups, lane restrictions etc, I was amused to find no roadworks at all.

Drivers exiting the roundabout faced immediate warnings of roadworks that weren't happening and a 30mph speed limit that wasn't necessary.

After this invisible stretch of roadworks, drivers are hilariously advised that these works are finished.

Perhaps whoever is responsible for this complete disorganisation can get the road crew on to these repairs.

Anyone who has to drive on this stretch would rather that the 14 weeks estimated delay started sooner rather than later.
