Wolverhampton 51, Oxford Silver Machine 45: Oxford Silver Machine skipper Greg Hancock beat Peter Karlsson in a run-off to take the bonus point after Wolverhampton won an exciting Craven Shield clash at Monmore last night.

The vital point keeps Silver Machine in with a chance of qualifying for the next stage when they go to Swindon on Thursday.

Oxford, who beat Wolverhampton 48-42 last week, had to race without the ill Niels Kristian Iversen.

Conference League rider Luke Priest came in, but he was always struggling.

The home side pulled level on aggregate after seven heats and looked favourites for the all-important bonus point.

Team manager Bryn Williams brought in Billy Hamill as a tactical ride in heat ten and, with Freddie Eriksson in third, Oxford posted a 7-2 to go back in front on aggregate

However, Wolves led again when Ronnie Correy beat Hancock, and Travis McGowan was caught on the line by David Howe for third, and by the interval, they were 42-33 ahead .

Hancock was brought in as a tactical ride in heat 13 and, like Hamill earlier, recorded a six-pointer to give Oxford hope with two heats left.

McGowan won heat 14, but Freddie Lindgren almost shoved Hamill into the fence and he never recovered.

It meant the bonus point was still up for grabs, and Hancock and Hamill shared the spoils behind Peter Karlsson in the final heat to take it to a run-off - which saw Hancock come up trumps.

Wolverhampton: P Karlsson 12, Corey 10, Howe 9, Johnston 7, Lindgren 5, M Karlsson 5, Peceyna 3. 51pts.

Oxford: McGowan 14, Hancock 14, Hamill 12+1, Tomicek 3, Eriksson 2, Gustafsson 1+1, Priest 0. 45pts.
