Your article, New Twist in Homes Fight (Oxford Mail, September 16), should have included the reason the Green group had the county council Structure Plan brought back for reconsideration.
We were concerned that the administration had failed to follow the procedures that make it possible for minority parties to have some say in the preparation of policy.
Given the total domination of the council by an arrogant Conservative group, (supported by only 35 per cent of the electorate), it is vital that these be followed.
We are as determined to oppose unfairness as we are to oppose Labour's attack on the Green Belt.
The vast majority of the people of Oxford cannot afford decent accommodation because New Labour has followed the Conservatives in making the market the only determinant of price.
There has been building of market-price houses, but only a small proportion of people can afford them.
The solution is not to destroy our countryside. The solution is the building of houses for rent and purchase, in the right places, and at prices people can afford. Larry Sanders, Leader, Green Group, Oxfordshire County Council
