I was shocked and dismayed when I read your article, Get out again (Oxford Mail, September 9).

My disabled wife and I are on the waiting list for a council house and it is very upsetting to see people like that treating homes the way they do when we are in desperate need of rehousing. We have been on the waiting list since 1997 and have been waiting to be moved from our first-floor property since April 2002.

My wife is disabled and needs a ground-floor property such as a house or bungalow. We are in constant contact with Oxford City Council and are told that there are no three-bedroom houses or bungalows vacant. It is distressing when you see them boarded up or being mistreated when there are people like us in real need. LES KING , Minchery Farm, Oxford
