NORTH Oxford B have secured promotion into Mixed Division 1 of the Wilson OLTA Inter-Club 3-Pair League, after a 7-2 win over Woodstock B.
Both sides went into the match with 100 per cent records, but it was North Oxford who proved the stronger on the day.
Their top two pairs were in devastating form, dropping just 22 games in 12 sets against a side who had cruised to victory in every other match they had played this season.
Jack Rooney and Julia Brown led the way at No 1 pair, with Dave Evans and Mary Joyner also on top of their game at No 2.
Oxford City C gave themselves a lifeline at the bottom of the same division with a much-needed 5-4 win over North Oxford D.
City were without a win after their first four matches of the season, but this narrow success keeps alive their hopes of avoiding dropping into Division 3.
North Oxford D, however, now look certain to be relegated.
In Ladies Division 2, Goring ensured their campaign would finish with an unblemished record with an 8 - success over Thame.
Thame took the first set of the afternoon through Fiona Pidgeon and Karen-Lynn Pinder, but it was one-way traffic from then on as Goring took control.
Their third pair of Liz Munro and Sallie Pickering produced the best results of the afternoon, dropping just eight games in their six sets.
Norham Gardens ensured that they avoided relegation in Men's Division 1 of the 2-Pair League after they drew 2-2 with Colston.
