OXFORD City boss Andy Lyne aims to scupper the hopes of his former players Eddie Denton and Andy Ballard when his side do battle away to Slough Town in tomorrow's FA Cup first qualifying round.

Denton, the ex-Oxford United midfielder and now Slough manager, played under Lyne when he was boss at the now-defunct Witney Town.

Midfielder Ballard joined Slough in the summer shortly after Lyne took over at Court Place Farm.

City, who caused the upset of the extra preliminary round when they beat Newport (IOW) 3-2, face a huge task against the Ryman League Premier Division outfit.

Slough, who ground-share with Windsor & Eton, boast United striker Jamie Brooks and ex-U's youngster Michael Alexis among their line-up.

"Eddie played for me for a year and did very well. It will be good to see him again," said Lyne.

"They are expected to win, so we have nothing to lose, but we'll have to play better than we did last week (City drew 1-1 with Broxbourne)."

Striker Matty Gooderick is back for Banbury United's home tie with Southern League Premier Division rivals King's Lynn. Gooderick has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Andy Baird, who was rested for Tuesday's Birmingham Senior Cup game at Romulus, is also back, while Paul Lamb plays the last game before his three-match ban starts.

"It's always tough against King's Lynn," said boss Kevin Brock.

"We need to finish the job here, because we don't fancy a trip up there on Tuesday, as Paul's suspension starts on Monday."

Skipper Jamie Heapy returns from suspension for Didcot Town when they host Kent Senior League Herne Bay.

They are without Bradley Ward (holiday) and Paul Hannigan (knee injury).

Didcot boss Stuart Peace said: "I expect us to put on a good performance. If we don't, we won't get through."

Jimmy Smith returns from injury to a full-strength squad for Abingdon United's home clash with Ryman Premier League Division side Dulwich Hamlet.
