STEVENAGE midfielder Simon Stapleton believes that the GM Vauxhall Conference minnows can surprise Newcastle in tonight's big FA Cup fourth round replay at St James' Park.

The pundits are giving the Non-Leaguers little chance of beating the Premiership big boys, but former Oxford Boys and Summertown Stars ace Stapleton is not ruling out an upset.

"All the pressure is going to be on them, because if they lose then their season is effectively over," he said.

"We can just relax. OK, it is going to be a big crowd and an intimidating atmosphere, but it could just as easily work against them if we play well and the fans get frustrated. Remember they have to win - we don't."

The 29-year-old former Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers and Wycombe player, who lives in Kidlington and coaches football in local schools as part of the Choices Sports educational soccer programme, says that he will just be trying to enjoy himself.

"It will be one of the biggest games of my career. I've played for Wycombe twice at Wembley - the FA Trophy final and the Division 3 play-offs - and they were in front of about 40,000 people, but this will be a bit different.

"I've no idea what my job is going to be. Last time I marked John Barnes, but I'm not sure what the boss is going to want me to do. I know that they have signed Andreas Andersson from AC Milan, perhaps I will have to look after him.
