HOT-HEADED footballer Mark Howlett has been banned for a massive 336 days by the Oxfordshire FA and fined £110 after creating mayhem in an Oxfordshire Senior League game.
Howlett, of Berinsfield Community Association Res, received the hefty punishment after striking three players, swearing at the referee and refusing to leave the field after being sent off during his side's 2-1 win over Horspath Res on December 20.
OFA disciplinary secretary David Hovard said: "The game was delayed for six minutes until he was removed from the field and then he continued the abuse afterwards."
Howlett was found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, as was Garsington Reserves' Darren Barber, who was banned for a year and fined £100 following another incident of soccer shame.
Barber threatened the referee, spat at his feet and used foul and abusive language towards him after being sent off in the Oxon Senior League game against Long Crendon Res on December 6.
Fieldtown Reserves' Darren Guy is also contemplating a lengthy spell on the sidelines after having an 112-day ban slapped on him and a £50 fine for pushing the referee and swearing at him during the game against West Witney A in the Witney and District FA on December 13.
Meanwhile, Bell Crowmarsh, of the Autotype UTV League, have been suspended from playing in all competitions for unpaid fines.
The latest list of suspensions also includes Beverley Cartwright, of Banbury United Ladies, who was given a seven-day ban for foul and abusive language.
