OXFORDSHIRE'S famous White Horse was joined by a modern neighbour at the weekend - a microchip.
The spider-shaped white sheet was pegged down next to the chalk horse, at Uffington, near Wantage, to highlight Tom Newton's idea for the Millennium.
The self-employed designer, from Lutterworth, Leicestershire, wants financial backing for his idea to carve chalk designs into various hills across England.
However, he failed to receive a positive response from the Millennium Fund.
Mr Newton's proposal is to carve shapes into the land which sum up the modern era - such as the 14-pronged microchip.
His wife, Sophie, said: "He is looking for sponsorship. He wants this idea to happen and we want it to happen."
Mr Newton unpegged his sheet on Sunday evening.
