CHILDREN learned an Irish jig and snacked on samosas during a party held to celebrate international culture.
Yesterday's event at Oxford Town Hall celebrated the county's many different cultures.
Children laughed at a comedy turn, made things and danced to their hearts' content.
Nine-year-old Elita Quammie, of Kingfisher Green, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, said: "I like it. There are different activities, badge making and jewellery making.
"Now I'm going to do some mask making - you do a mask of your face. I've made some new friends."
Martin Krah, vice-chairman of the Oxfordshire Racial Equality Council, which organised the event, said: "I'm looking forward to the food.
"I'm African so I like African food best, but I don't mind English and I really like those samosas as well."
Stalls promoting different groups and selling everything from framed copies of the Pakistani and Jamaican national anthems to potato cakes were set up round the hall.
Pat Green, of Oxford company Pearl Enterprise, held up a birthday card and said: "This has a black person on it. Most people say they didn't know you could get black people on cards."
