WEST Lockinge trainer Henrietta Knight is considering whether to appeal against the £1,000 fine she was handed by the Newbury stewards on Saturday.

She was seething following the decision by the officials to fine her after Easthorpe, who was engaged at Doncaster and Newbury, won at the Yorkshire track despite Newbury being Knight's first preference.

"I was absolutely shattered by the decision," she said.

"When I declared for the first preference the going at Newbury was good to soft, but it changed to heavy and there was no way I was going to bottom him on that ground at Newbury.

"I have taken him out at Newbury before when the going has changed to heavy. If he hadn't run at Doncaster he would have remained in his stable."

Now she is seeking advice from the National Trainers' Federation before deciding whether to appeal.

"I was very nearly in tears when I came out of the stewards' room and had to go for a walk with a friend to cool off," she added.
