A WOMAN was threatened and robbed while walking in Banbury late at night, police revealed yesterday.
The woman, who lives in Banbury, was going home from work along a path in Spiceball Park at 10.15pm, on March 5, but police have only just released details of the attack.
The only light came from street lamps in nearby Hennef Way. She was smoking when a man went up to her and demanded a cigarette.
As she walked away she was hit in the back. She told the police: "I thought, oh my God, he's going to kill me."
The man blocked her way, made threats and stole her cigarettes. He was described as being white, about 5ft 8ins tall, of average build and wearing a black woollen hat, black bomber jacket and dark trousers.
Pc Tim Sharp said: "This was a nasty incident in a public park and the lady was, not surprisingly, very frightened."
Pc Sharp added that initial leads had failed to trace the man. "Now we are making a public appeal." If you can help contact Pc Sharp on 01865 266615.
