TIDDINGTON crashed out in the Critchleys Oxon KO Cup first round last night as neighbours Chinnor, of OCA Senior Section 1, pulled off one of the biggest shocks in the competition's history to beat their Thames Valley League opponents by three wickets.
On a stormy evening with thundery showers preventing play in a number of games, Chinnor bowlers Neil Lawrence (3-19) and Terry Braginton (3-14) reduced Tiddington to just 78-8 in their 20 overs only to find themselves at a desperate 35-6 when their turn came.
But Darryl Ridgley dug in and they came to the last two overs needing 18 to win.
Ridgley then smashed four fours from the penultimate over as Chinnor scraped home amid frenzied scenes and stunned Tiddington players.
Another OCA side though are Kidlington, who comfortably overcame Cherwell League outfit Morris Motors by six wickets at Crescent Road.
Having been set 110 to win, John Kitson set Kidlington on the way with 36 in just 20 balls. Chalgrove's Derek Thomas smashed an unbeaten 117 to set up a massive 91-run victory over Stokenchurch.
With Steve Strong weighing in with 61 not out, Chalgrove rattled up a mammoth 207-1, and then bowled Stokenchurch out for 116.
