AGENT Philip Everett is swopping a palace for a castle with his new job.

Mr Everett, 46, has been appointed deputy ranger of Windsor Great Park after spending 12 years as the agent at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock.

The 15,000 acres of Windsor Great Park are owned by the Crown Estates and the chief ranger is the Duke of Edinburgh.

Mr Everett, who will remain a partner with chartered surveyors Smiths Gore, will be responsible for looking after the park, forestry and all areas open to the public, which include Saville Gardens.

Mr Everett said: "I will be sorry to leave Blenheim and I have made a lot of friends during my 12 years. I have especially enjoyed being involved in the on-going restoration work at the Palace and in the park."

Windsor Great Park also includes the Royal Farm which is tenanted by the Queen.

He said: "I am looking forward to my new job. The Duke of Edinburgh as chief ranger takes a great interest, as the Queen does, in the Royal Farm."

Mr Everett's replacement is Tim Barter, 38, who is moving from the Duke of Westminster's Grosvenor Estates in Cheshire.
