CHALGROVE, fresh from upsetting Shipton-under-Wychwood in the National Village Championship, sprang another surprise by dumping holders Bicester and North Oxford out of the Critchleys Oxon KO Cup with a thrilling six-run second round win last night.

Jon Talbot, with 52 from 39 balls, was the mainstay in Chalgrove's modest 111 all out.

In reply, Andy Hobbs (33) tried in vain to accelerate the Bicester scoring, but wickets fell to Darren Clark (3-36) as the Cherwell League champions closed on 105-7.

Chinnor, first-round conquerors of Tiddington, came back down to earth with a bump as Banbury's Craig Haupt smashed a brilliant 152 to set up a crushing 123-run victory.

Haupt, whose runs came off just 61 balls as he batted throughout, hit 11 sixes and 11 fours and shared in a massive third-wicket stand of 198 with Mark Rorich (65).

Chinnor replied with108-3.

Oxford went down by 18 runs to Abingdon Vale, who made 140-3 with Paul Lemon (59) and Ben Humpage (36) starring.

Oxford finished on 122-4, with Simon Smith 56 not out.
