A banned woman driver who was sentenced to 80 hours' community service and on probation has been ordered to tackle her serious drink problem.

Jobless Sally-Ann Taylor, 21, of Kynaston Road, Didcot, had been remanded for reports after admitting driving while disqualified and other offences, including failing to surrender to bail.

Prosecutor Shelley Cranshaw told magistrates police spotted Taylor behind the wheel of a Rover in Broadway, Didcot, on May 15. The court heard she had been banned from driving in November last year until October next year.

Sabeeha Khan, defending, described Taylor as someone "who has been dogged with problems since she was 15".

Miss Khan said Taylor did not attend court in time to answer to bail on May 28 because she had overslept, although she failed to tell police who immediately arrested her when she attended the latest hearing to be sentenced.

For driving while disqualified, magistrates made a combination order - 80 hours' community service along with 18 months' probation - and endorsed her licence with six penalty points.

Chairman Margaret Vivian, said under the terms of the order, Taylor would be expected to address her drink problem - and magistrates called for a progress report in three months' time.

Taylor's licence was endorsed for driving without insurance, which she admitted. along with failing to surrender to bail for which there was no separate penalty.

At the time of the latest offences, she was already on probation which magistrates revoked in favour of the new combination order.
