A man died today after he was hit by a train on the railway line at Oxford.
Paramedics were called to the train station at 12.20am and rushed the man to the John Radcliffe Hospital, but he died of his injuries soon after he arrived.
The man has not been not named but British Transport Police said he was 25 years old, from Oxford, and known to city police.
Supt Dave Hogg, of Oxfordshire Ambulance Service, said: "He was found on the railway line and by the extent of his injuries he had obviously been hit by a train.
"He was taken to the John Radcliffe in a critical condition. He has since died of his injuries. "He was only just alive when we took him through the front door of the hospital."
A train driver reported finding the body 200 yards south of the Botley Road bridge but it is believed the man was hit by another train.
Police spokesman Duncan McGraw said the death did not appear suspicious.
