One of Oxford's biggest armed robberies is to be featured on TV's top crimebusting programme, Crimewatch UK.
Two armed robbers burst into Rowell Silversmiths in Turl Street on May 18 and ordered staff to lie on the floor.
They grabbed £250,000 of jewellery and, despite the offer of a £10,000 reward and an extensive police investigation, have not been caught.
Today (WED), a camera crew from the BBC programme, which is fronted by Nick Ross and Jill Dando, will start filming a reconstruction of last month's robbery.
Police in Oxford believe that the film, which will be screened nationwide on July 14, will help detectives cast their net across Britain in the hunt for the jewel thieves.
Spokesman Duncan McGraw said: "Our officers have followed a number of leads but they need more information to work on.
"Crimewatch is seen by millions of viewers and the screening of a full reconstruction could bring forth significant new information. "It's quite possible that the crime has been committed by a gang from outside the Oxford area and a viewer may ring in with a new clue which could be vital to this inquiry."
Crimewatch director Ruki Sidhwa said: "The leads detectives have been working on have now bottomed out and the visual impact of our reconstruction could help. This armed robbery must have been very frightening for staff in the shop and if we can get these dangerous men off the streets we will be very happy."
The Crimewatch team will be filming in the Turl Street area for the next two days. Anyone with information can telephone the Crimewatch freephone number 0500 600 600.
