An employee has been suspended from Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital over an allegation he stole £30 from a crash victim's belongings.

Car dealer David Godfrey, 31, of The Green, Alvescot, died when his Ford Sierra XR4i struck Radcot Bridge, near Bampton.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident at about 2am on Friday, May 1, and taken to the hJohn Radcliffe Hospital.

A hospital worker has been arrested and questioned by police at St Aldate's police station, Oxford, in connection with the allegation.

Mr Godfrey's dad, John Godfrey, of Park Road, Witney, said: "I just want to get it all over and done with, they keep dragging it on about his death. It's no good."

His son had a business D & G Autos at Brankfield Stud, Standlake, where he had just spent money having a workshop built before his death.

Police spokesman Duncan McGraw said: "The employee has been bailed to report back to the police station for further questioning at a later date."

A hospital spokesman said the man had been suspended while an investigation was carried out.

A passenger in Mr Godfrey's car, John Neal, 20, of Eastfield Road, Witney, was treated for pelvic and abdominal injuries at the John Radcliffe Hospital while Glen Wheatland, 22, of Eynsham Road, Cassington, escaped with minor injuries.
