CRICKET throughout the county was washed out at the weekend as the rains returned with a vengeance - not for the first time this season.
The Adkin Cherwell League was decimated, with all 1st and 2nd XI fixtures abandoned. One 3rd XI match went ahead at Banbury.
And Oxfordshire fared no better at Salisbury where the first day of their Minor Counties Championship game against Wiltshire was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The unseasonal weather at least suited the rugby league players of Oxford Cavaliers, who produced their best display of the summer to beat West London Sharks 24-14.
