A Wantage doctor faces a £50,000 High Court action over allegations of negligence from a young patient who is now permanently brain-damaged.
Teenager Joseph Laycock, who lives at Alfredston Place, Wantage, is suing Oxfordshire Health Authority and the GP, Dr John Robinson, of the Newbury Street Practice.
Joseph, who lives with his father and sister, is claiming for personal injury and consequential losses over neonatal care he received in December 1984.
The writ also alleges that Dr Robinson failed to attend or treat Joseph properly, causing a delay in his treatment.
It is claimed the teenager suffered severe permanent neurological disability, together with epilepsy, speech and learning difficulties.
Joseph's father, Peter, declined to talk about the case last night.
