A pensioner's dog killed a lamb and injured another while she was taking it for a walk along a bridleway.
Joy Robinson, 61, of Greenwich Lane, Leafield, was given a conditional discharge for a year by Witney Magistrates' Court after admitting allowing her black mongrel dog Josh to worry sheep.
Rajeev Shetty, prosecuting, said the farmer at Brize Lodge Farm, Finstock, noticed a disturbance among his ewes and lambs.
"He collected his shotgun and drove his tractor down the field. He saw a black mongrel dog attacking one of his lambs. Mrs Robinson was on the nearby bridleway and admitted the dog was hers. One lamb died and another one recovered," said Mr Shetty.
Robinson said Josh was five years old and she had rescued him from an animal centre when he was about a year old.
He had never done anything like that in the past and She had paid the farmer immediately after the incident for the damage.
