LIZZIE Jelfs won seven successive points in a second set tie-break to win the battle of Oxfordshire at the LTA Satellite tennis tournament at Frinton-on-Sea yesterday.
Banbury friend and rival, Claire Taylor, was the girl on the receiving end after a tense tussle which lasted almost two hours.
Jelfs took an early advantage in the opening set of the quarter-final, breaking her opponent's serve in the fifth game.
Taylor, 23, broke back three games later to level at 4-4 before Jelfs took the set 7-5.
Taylor took a 2-0 lead in the second, but Jelfs hit back and eventually captured the tie-break with seven points in a row.
The 21-year-old faces No 1 seed Lucie Ahl in the semi-final.
