OXFORD United say they are planning new ways to manage information coming out of the club.

The move comes in response to criticism in the Oxford Mail that the club are being secretive by not disclosing where the money is coming from to pay for £475,000 record signing Dean Windass.

"We continue to be disappointed by the nature of material in the local paper," said United official Nick Wright.

"We are not being secretive, but there are certain things we feel we have a right not to give out. Most fans are really only interested in what the team will be and whether we can get three points on Saturday.

"We are quite at liberty to say it's none of your business."

The change of policy could mean less news for fans who do not have access to the Internet. United are trying to get fans to call up their website page and have told manager Malcolm Shotton to tell the media to find out about club matters by reading it there first.

"I'll just do what I'm told," said Shotton. "If that's the way Keith (Cox) decides we're going in the future, then it has to be."

When reminded that not all supporters have access to a computer to call up the website, Shotton replied: "We can't help that. Things are going out from this club that are being distorted."

Meanwhile, United's youth team player Andrew Richards has been called up by Wales for the Under 18 Milk Cup tournament in Northern Ireland later this month.

Richards, a second-year youth trainee at the Manor Ground, is in line to play for Wales against Russia, Northern Ireland and Turkey.
