TV heartthrob Anthea Turner served up a treat for customers at a new motorway service station.

The Wish You Were Here host cut the ribbon on the £26m Welcome Break station, at junction eight of the M40, near Wheatley.

She then toured the new motorway stop-off, chatting to customers and even serving coffee to a lucky few.

Anthea, who regularly passes through Oxfordshire on journeys between London and her home in Stoke-on-Trent, told the Oxford Mail: "It has been a wonderful reception. My fingers are falling off from signing autographs and everyone has been really chatty. This is certainly a nice way to meet people."

Among the first to be photographed with the golden girl of TV were Claire and Marie Roberts, aged ten and nine, of London Road, Wheatley.

Their mum Sue, who is personal assistant to the service station's manager, Tom Cassidy, said: "They were thrilled, it was their moment of fame.

"Anthea was really nice to them."
