Paramedic Gordon Thompson - cleared of raping three patients - has resigned from Oxfordshire Ambulance Service.
Mr Thompson, 36, of Arkell Avenue, Carterton, was found not guilty of six charges of rape and three of indecent assault in a trial at Oxford Crown Court in February.
He was accused of attacking them in their homes between October 1995 and January 1997.
The Falklands veteran joined Oxfordshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust in 1992 and qualified as a paramedic in 1996.
After he was cleared of all charges, ambulance bosses announced plans to complete an internal investigation into his conduct as a paramedic.
It following suggestions that he had breached ambulance service rules by visiting patients while off duty.
But it was revealed yesterday (MON) that Mr Thompson had resigned before he could be called to hear the findings of the probe.
Until his resignation, he was suspended on full pay.
The service's director of operations, Bob Seaman, said: "Mr Thompson recently told us he felt it was in his best interest to resign and handed in a written letter of resignation.
"The contents of the letter were along the lines that he simply wanted to get on with his life and this was the best way to go forward.
"From a Trust point of view, this has removed the necessity of having to conduct this kind of investigation.
