Young Jamie Pocock and the rest of his family just couldn't believe their eyes when they saw this peach just grow and grow.
Parents Andrew and Rosemary Pocock inherited the peach tree when they moved to their home at Clanfield, near Witney, five years ago.
The tree has produced peaches each year but this summer there is one they think is a record beater.
Mrs Pocock said: "We understand the record in the Guinness Book of Records is 14 ounces and we think this one is at least 16 ounces and is still growing.
"We believe the peach tree is quite old but since we moved in, we have done nothing special to look after it. There are couple of peaches almost as big but this one really is amazing."
Even Mrs Pocock's father, keen gardener Gerald Warner, of Witney, is amazed at its size.
"He is the expert but he says he has seen nothing like it in 40 years," said Mrs Pocock.
They are waiting until the peach fully ripens before they can pick it and have a weigh-in.
Then no doubt it will go the way of the peach in Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach - eaten up - and all that will be left will be a large stone.
