Botley Road, Oxford, re-opened as planned today after it was closed overnight while a new footbridge was put in place.
But commuters still faced long delays this morning with roadworks elsewhere on the road.
New three-way temporary traffic lights at the junction with Ferry Hinksey Road, were blamed for serious snarl-ups yesterday.
Commuters also faced a frustrating journey home last night as traffic tailed back in both directions along Botley Road and along Ferry Hinksey Road.
The road was closed from 8pm until the early hours while the new pedestrian bridge was installed. It links the railway station with the new car park, in Beckett Street.
