A hospital manager suspended from his Oxford job after staff accused him of being a bully has quit, it emerged today.
In March, the Oxford Mail revealed that estates manager Carl Powell, 47, who was in charge of land and buildings at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospital sites in Headington, was suspended after senior staff alleged he harassed and intimidated them over several months.
An investigation was launched in January by NHS officials from outside the Oxford Radcliffe Trust, which manages the hospitals, into Mr Powell's management style and behaviour.
In an internal memo from chief executive John MacDonald to trust board members, and other hospital managers, he told them that although Mr Powell denied the allegations, it had been "mutually agreed" that he should leave.
Mr MacDonald wrote: "As I am sure you will be aware, Carl Powell has been away on special leave for some months while an investigation was undertaken following allegations made about his management style and behaviour."
